Tuesday - Natural Site

We had some trouble finding something nature-related to do around Seoul. Although South Korea offers the chance for many nature experiences, most would require at least a full day or two because of the far travel distances. Instead we ended up hearing about South Mountain Park, about a 20 minute walk from where we were staying. South Mountain Park is located at 100-177 1ga Hoehyeon-dong, Jung-gu Seoul. We headed over around noon and grabbed some lunch snacks from a small market we passed on the way. The park is mainly a nature park with trails for walking and hiking. We were surprised when we came upon it, as it is literally right in the middle of the city. After a minute walk on the trail we felt as if we were in the middle of a dense forest. The park was beautiful and well-maintained for the high use it receives. Many flowering trees and small ponds were spread throughout the park. We spent a few hours wandering the trails, getting lost in the beauty of nature, and eventually decided we should head home before we got stuck in the dark. Overall we had a great day and were glad to be able to experience nature after being surrounded by buildings and city-life the past couple of days.
